You can boot without modifying any files on the hard drive and also allows installation of AWbian from the contents of the image.  Hybrid ISO image files suitable for writing to DVD-R(W) or CD-R(W) media, depending on size, and also USB keys of the appropriate size.

How to copy the iso to USB disk?

With GNU/Linux dd tool:

dd if=awbian.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=1024

* if sdb is your flash USB disk

How to install to hard drive?

Run AWbian Live as usual.

#Open a terminal
sudo su

#Create your partition layout (example /dev/sda)
fdisk /dev/sda   : n p 1 enter enter w

#Format your disk as you wish (example ext3)
mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1

#Create installation point
mkdir /mnt/install
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/install

#Copy the squashfs into install disk
rsync -av /lib/live/mount/rootfs/filesystem.squashfs/* /mnt/install/

#Mount the special filesystems
mount -o bind /dev /mnt/install/dev/

#Enter to new system
chroot /mnt/install/

#set your DNS servers
vi /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver XXXX.XXXX.XXXX.XXXX

#Install the bootloader
apt-get install grub2
— select your disk to install GRUB (example /dev/sda)
grub-install /dev/sda

#Exit form Jail
exit

#Copy live kernel & initrd
cp /lib/live/mount/medium/live/vmlinuz1 /mnt/install/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-4-686-pae
cp /lib/live/mount/medium/live/initrd1 /mnt/install/boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-4-686-pae

#Enter to new system
chroot /mnt/install/

#Configure systemd
vim /etc/default/grub
# change line 9 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”init=/bin/systemd”

#Updategrub2
update-grub2

#The fstab
add this_>  /dev/sda1 / ext3 errors=remount-ro 0 1

#Reboot
reboot
